We are seeking an experienced and proactive Controller with a strong accounting background to oversee our financial operations. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in financial decision-making, providing strategic financial input to senior management while overseeing the overall accounting process. The Controller will lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of staff members including functional responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial projections.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of accounting, financial statements, general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, project budgets, and actual expenditures.
  • Coordinate all audit activities.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the company's financial status.
  • Assist company leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare actual results to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Oversee all financial project/program accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with project budgets.
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
  • Solve problems, teach, coach, and support the financial team, serving as an expert advisor. Understand the direction of the company, the options we face, and how to improve our profitability and overall success.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting and finance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with residential construction accounting or in a related industry preferred.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction enterprise resource software such as MarkSystems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity. Ability to execute and follow through to completion and documentation.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary of $80-100K plus profit share of $25-50k Opportunities for career advancement within the company.
