We are seeking an experienced and proactive Controller with a strong accounting background to oversee our financial operations. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in financial decision-making, providing strategic financial input to senior management while overseeing the overall accounting process. The Controller will lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of staff members including functional responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial projections.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of accounting, financial statements, general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, project budgets, and actual expenditures.
  • Coordinate all audit activities.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the company's financial status.
  • Assist company leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare actual results to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Oversee all financial project/program accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with project budgets.
  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
  • Solve problems, teach, coach, and support the financial team, serving as an expert advisor.
  • Understand the direction of the company, the options we face, and how to improve our profitability and overall success.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting and finance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with residential construction accounting or in a related industry preferred. 
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with construction enterprise resource software such as MarkSystems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity. Ability to execute and follow through to completion and documentation.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary of $80-100K plus profit share of $25-50k
